NPR and CNN journalist Maria Hinojosa, she of the overemphasized Spanish diction, is getting her own show on PBS this August. Maria Hinojosa: One-on-One will feature interviews with “Latinos who are thinking and creative and engaged, real policy makers in this moment of the US.” (Which apparently includes the Latin guy from Desperate Housewives.) In an interview in the Boston Globe, Hinojosa says she’s enjoyed giving voice to the underrepresented since her college days:
Back when she was a student at Barnard College, Hinojosa anchored a radio show…that played political Latin music. She recalls thinking: "Maybe what I am doing is really important. Maybe what I am doing is giving these people who are voiceless a voice.
We look forward to more condescension empowerment from Maria this August.
