Study Finds Hispanic Catholics Use More Tongue
29 May 2007, 10:00 AM. By Cindy Casares
A study says that Hispanic Catholics are more likely to perform charismatic rituals, like speaking in tongues, than their non-Hispanic counterparts. Such practices more commonly found in Pentecostal churches also include prophesying and other snake handling/voodoo type stuff that freaks most people out. Not surprisingly, this trend is found more in the immigrant community than in second and later generation Hispanic Americans who often stop going to church or at least leave Catholicism. We happen to have experience in the Charismatic Catholic movement, but we thought we were alone in our childhood, hippy church past.
