Michael Moore’s newest movie SICKO is set to come out in the States next month and, as per usual, he’s managed to drum up the traditional, media-friendly, political hoo-ha that will assure him box office success. What’s the prob this time? Well, apparently, Moore’s exposé on the state of American healthcare inspired him to take some September 11th rescue workers to Cuba for free healthcare. Now the government has its panties in a wad because said trip was taken without permission. The London Times features a great quote from Moore’s website on the whole issue:
…our heroic Ground Zero 9/11 workers live in a society where the Bush Administration has shown more concern about their travel than their health.
While we see right through Moore’s media puppetry, we reluctantly play along because, gosh darn it, he’s right. Oh, and the whole Cuba thing.
