Certain friends of ours of the homosexual persuasion have alerted us to a fascinating, internet trend among the gays: The Brazilian fotolog site. According to one such site called Made In Brazil, whose tagline is “Brazilianizing the world one day at a time,” it is:
A blog about fashion, entertainment, tourism, and all things Brazil, written and edited by an actual Brazilian citizen residing in the United States.
But as far as we can tell, it’s pretty much soft-core, gay porn. And by the looks of the banner ads, there’s huge money in catering to the American fetish for the brown boys of down there where they wax. We know a lot of Latinos find the sexy lover stereotype one they can live with, but we find it rather like the patron of the house screwing the pool boy, no? We guess some things never change. They just get more technologically easy.

As a 25 year old gay latino I find the mentioned website as both flattering and also repulsive. I find it initially flattering (very slightly) that websites are devoted to the us latino men because of our good looks and charm. Yet I find it incredibly repulsive that Gay American caucasian men have a kinky fascination with latino men which we can only suppose has been passed down from their anscestors who came to the Americas and viewed the “dark skinned” people as exotic creatures rather than just human beings.
