El Look: Fidelito’s Crazy Sideburns

El Look is eye candy from the street.

Last night we came across this guy, and his look stopped us right in our tracks. “What’s up with the crazy sideburns?” we asked ourselves. We befriended him just to find out.

Whats your name? And where’d you come from?
Fidel Velazquez. I am from México, D.F. and the streets of the East Village in Manhattan.

How’d we find you?
You were eating Mexican food and you came to talk to me. I manage Barrio Chino, the Mexican Restaurant, in the Lower East Side. Been in the restaurant biz for over 10 years now.

So where’d you get your look?
I used to work at a goth clothing store called Trash and Vaudeville in the East Village. I picked up some things from there and from the music I listen to.

What’s up with your crazy sideburns?
There just part of who I am. Everybody dresses and looks the same and I am different.

And it shows Fidelito. It shows. We love the look, and we now feel very vanilla.
