Fidel Castro Deathwatch: Robot Wired to Impersonate El Comandante
4 June 2007, 3:40 PM. By Carlos Posas
It’s nothing short of amazing what technology can achieve these days. Take, for example, the news that a smirking and witty Fidel Castro made his first TV appearance in four months this past Sunday. Rather than end up in the ‘weird science’ section of some tech magazine, images of the autocratic automaton made their way onto the front page of Communist-leaning paper Juventud Rebelde. Local subscribers testify to his steady recuperation, but we’re not fooled:
“He’s always animated, but now he’s healthier,” Havana resident Marvis Lescay said. “It is very satisfying for me to see him getting better.”

Oye, SeƱorita Lescay…if a lively bundle of wires and circuits really gets you going, you might want to check out this dance. Note its eerie similarity to the move ol’ Fidel-Bot busts to the left.
