Having A Rough Week: Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo

Delgadillo_Screwed_6_22_07.jpg No high-profile city employee in L.A. wants more badly for today to end than embattled City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo. The man is now the subject of not one, but TWO probes into whether or not he abused city resources for his own personal gain; both the Los Angeles Ethics Committee and the State Bar of California are after him. A timeline of the incidents that have made Rocky’s life a living hell:

•On Monday, he admitted that his wife Michelle was driving with a suspended license to and fro her doctor’s office when she backed into a pole in his city-furnished SUV—damage he at first paid for with city dough.
•On Wednesday, the L.A. Times reported that he “had periodically called on his staff members to run personal errands and baby-sit his two young sons.”
•Yesterday, a pair of Ethics Committee investigators sniffed around the department responsible for providing officials with city vehicles.

On top of all that, his wife’s a wanted criminal! According to public records, there’s a 9 year-old warrant out for her arrest after she failed to appear in court to address (no surprise) a bevy of traffic violations.

Some self-righteous hot-air from the attorney whose complaint prompted the State Bar to try and take Rocky down:

“I believe in ethics,” said attorney Allen P. Wilkinson, who made the complaint. “Attorneys already have a bad reputation among the public as being dishonest and I don’t think that type of conduct should be tolerated in the legal profession.”

That perceived sliminess goes double for all the Mexican American Princes out there, since you’re both Latino and pursuing law.
