For dirty old Peruanos, re-enacting “Lolita” with your neighbor’s daughter has never been easier. Just last week, a landslide vote in the Congress of Peru lowered the age for consenting to consensual sex from 17 to 14. Older men with ulterior motives rejoiced:
One supporter of the measure, lawmaker Raul Castro, said the law will bring Peru in line with “the progress and development of a modern society.”
Never knew that what we did as teenagers in the backseat of our mom’s minivan qualified as a hallmark of modern society. Awesome! Given the controversiality (is that a word?) of this development coming out of her native country, our pal and pretentious filmmaker Peru Ana / Ana Peru is probably cranking out a strongly-worded manifesto somewhere in Brooklyn. Alone.

Child Rape Endorsement???? Are you serious? Here’s one for you in 1880 in the good old US of A the age of consent was 7. How about the fact that in Spain today the age of consent is 13? You people make me sick: Letting your 11 year old daughters dress in thongs and mini shorts that have the words “Angel” emblazoned across the butt; Worshiping teen idols like the Olson twins and drooling for the day their old enough to star in Playboy; throwing 15 year olds in the jail for life because he sold drugs to get by; and then you have the audacity to tell me your 15 or 16 year old daughter didn’t seduce that older man.
Your hypocrisy has no bounds. Stop treating your teenagers like children and start teaching them to act like adults. I assure you when I was a 14 year old boy I knew what I was doing when I flirted with older women.

OK, Bob, yes it’s true that too many parents allow their children to dress too provocatively. But what well-adjusted, emotionally healthy adult would allow him/herself to be “seduced” by a kid?
