Juanes_Drugs_6_26_07.jpg Define irony: A hugely famous Colombian entertainer from the town of Medellín–made synonymous with the legendary drug cartel ruled by supreme coke-slanger Pablo Escobar–wants to weaken the stranglehold that cocaine traffickers have on his native land. Ask Latin pop star Juanes how to do it, and he’ll tell you it’s a matter of legalizing drugs. If the Colombian government listens and puts legalization to referendum as Juanes suggests, beware! Celebrities who meddle in politics might just get encouraged.

    He does have a legitimate point. Legalizing the powder would decrease the overseas demand for it, thus debilitating the narcos. Now if somebody would work on illegalizing his music…
