Manu Chao: The Man Who Makes Straight Boys Dance

If you are a Hispanic, hetero male and like to think of yourself as a backpacker when you’re not at your day job, you probably love a man the kids call Manu Chao. We personally don’t get our kicks somewhere between Ozomatli and Phish, but the Spanish-born musician and his band are all up in our faces lately as witnessed today by the above video posted on Brooklyn Vegan in honor of Chao’s recent performance at Tennessee hippy music fest Bonnaroo. If you happen to be in New York and weren’t able to catch it, you’re in luck. There will be a herd of young men in goatees and dred locks awkwardly slam dancing to his live performance tonight and tomorrow at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Enjoy.
