Babies make us lose all sense of credibility, especially if they belong to the Prince and Princess of Asturías who’re next in line to inherit the Spanish throne from King Juan Carlos I. Out of the envy Guanabee harbors for these fair-skinned rugrats, we’d like to point out how extravagant these three elements of La Infanta Sofía’s upcoming July 15th baptism are:
• water from the River Jordan (you know, the one that runs through the Holy Land)
• the baptismal gown worn by her grandpa, the current Spanish King, 69 years ago; the oldest thing we have of our abuelo’s is the gold crown off his left canine
• the baptismal basin of Saint Domingo of Guzmán, used since 1605 to immerse royal Spaniard babies for just this occasion
At least Sofía’ll renounce the devil and all his works in style.
