Tax Auditers Overrun 'Love Motels' In Honduras

Love_Motels_6_20_07.jpg Next time you stroll into a Honduran motel that charges by the hour, don’t be alarmed by the lone guy peering at you from the lobby couch; he’s probably just a harmless tax man. The government of Honduras has kicked operation “Fiscal Love” into high gear, dispatching officials to count cars outside of shady motels because they aren’t reporting their earnings properly and thereby fleecing the feds out of $40,000 each month. There’s an explanation for the popularity of these places:

“Love motels” that rent rooms for as little as six hours - local versions of what Americans would call a “no-tell motel” - are common throughout Latin America, where many young adults live with their parents.

As if it weren’t hard enough to get ass there already, now horny Hondurans have to get resourceful when they create the proper ambience.
