A new study shows that gentrified Times Square has an annual economic output of $53 billion. That’s more than the gross domestic products of Bolivia and Panama combined. But those countries have no Hawaiian Tropic Zone and billions less slack-jawed tourists from Minnesota walking around, so we’d say they win.
