Yesterday, Brazilian authorities alleged that the only reason the Beija-Flor samba school won this past February’s carnival championship is the network of bribes and death threats its leader imposed on carnival jurors. The school’s filthy rich and shady president stands accused of hiring hit-men to ‘persuade’ any juror who refused to exchange a vote for money.
