Kudos to New York’s Village Voice for once again exposing a trend we never saw coming: Latin men dig dangerous derrieres.

This week’s front-page feature details the rise of so-called “urban lad mags” like King, Smooth, and BlackMen seeking to tap the darker end of the demographic spectrum that keeps Maxim oh so popular. Seems their enterprise relies on cover girls who boast serious ass. Just ask the man [pictured right] who built his mini-publishing empire on the success of F.E.D.S., an underground rag whose readership is 90% incarcerated:

“Urban men, we like butts, we like hips. It’s a black and Hispanic thing,” says Antoine Clark, publisher of Sweets. “We like the feel of butts, we like to rub on them, we like to stare at them. It’s like a magnet for us. I have no explanation for it; that’s just something we like.”

After consulting such a credible taste-maker, the article mentions butt augmentation surgery and cites nameless doctors who “credit Jennifer Lopez with inspiring the relatively recent trends of silicone implants and fat injections.”

Is there no end to the villainy J-Lo inflicts on helpless white women?
