Who is Peru Ana, Ana Peru?

We’ve noticed the exact same graffiti (pictured here) written all over New York’s East Village for quite some time now. It caught our eye because a) it’s fucking everywhere, b) it uses the name Peru and therefore could have something to do with Latin people, and c) we hate people who use the word “cinema” when not referring to a building with a large screen and some chairs. So we set to Googling “Peru Ana” and what we found was a MySpace Film page by a “100 year old”, Female Brooklynite who posts the following manifestos:
We are surrounded by idiots who think they are geniuses… Let it be stated clearly at this time: FILM DOES NOT EQUAL CINEMA…THE PLIGHT OF THE INTELLECTUAL IS ONE OF SUFFOCATION, OF BEING SURROUNDED ON ALL SIDES BY A MASS OF IDIOTS WHO THINK THEMSELVES GENIUSES.
Well we can certainly relate to that. You should see the mullets we’re forced to edit around here. Still we’re not sure Ana Peru isn’t one of them. After the jump, let’s check out their TEN MINUTE LONG art-student, music video for a band called Panda Bear. It may contain scenes of extremely blown-out, gay porn around minute 5:30. We’re not sure because as we were watching it, we died of fucking boredom.

I think Ana Peru is rad. They keep it raw and “reel”. What are they? Who are they? Film makers? Street artists? I love the mystery and I love running into it!

Haha, well this is just sad, that there’s so many boring people that doesn’t see the greatness of Peru Ana, Ana Peru.
So why are they genius?
Peru Ana Ana Peru is a small time graph artist or something from like, 1999. Or at least thats what I thought she/he/it was. That was when I started seeing the tag. I have never seen anything technically advanced, just a marker. Surprised to see a small project like that get all “kinda” known.
yikes, what an awful video. i would have welcomed the gay porn around 5:30 but all I saw was a couple of guys scratching their beards and a beetle devouring another bug. Not gay sex last time I tried it but maybe I’m doing it wrong.
