Whole Lake Vanishes In Chile; Global Warming Not Suspected

The ‘Oddly Enough’ section of news agency Reuters‘ worldwide coverage is the most apropos heading for a report out of southern Chile saying an entire lake has vanished. Fed mostly by melting glaciers in the country’s Patagonia region, the body of water occupied a surface about the size of 10 soccer fields. Authorities theorize that a tremor-caused fissure in its bottom may have sucked away all the lake’s water, but we think that’s just a cover-up as investigation of the robbery goes underway.
