"Doesn't Matter If He Can Speak English! Can He Play Ball?"

Geikel_Slideshow_6_28_07.png And you thought your freshly-arrived cousin had it rough working at a laundromat where the boss doesn’t understand her. Take a glimpse into the life of high school baseball prospect Geikel Conyedo, who arrived in New Jersey six months ago from Cuba to pursue his dream of becoming a professional athlete. (We advise against it, kid: even if you do break into the majors, it won’t be long before you go the way of A-Rod and cheat on your wife with a bottle blonde stripper from Iowa.) As if to encourage him, The New York Times released a photo essay of Conyedo at play, which can be seen here. They meant it to be touching, but the Schwarzenegger inside of us can’t help but ask: when is this kid gonna turn off Univisión and learn some English?
