A group of Dems are calling a special counsel to investigate whether amnesiac Attorney General Alberto Gonzales committed perjury regarding the firings of U.S. attorneys. The investigation is a follow-up to a series of painful Congress hearings where Gonzales could not recall having a meeting where he dismissed federal prosecutors who were disloyal Bushies. (Last we heard, Gonzales could not recall whether the shirt seen here appealed to him for its high fashion sense and hipster cred, or if he found it appalling because he didn’t get the joke). Instead, Alberto has said that the meetings in question were over some “intelligence program” which he could not discuss. And even though Bush will keep Beto from going to the slammer just like he did for Libby, one thing is for sure: in the words of Jonny Cash, “You can run on for a long time, run on for a long time, but sooner or later God’ll cut you down”. Now we feel righteous. On to more fun stuff.
