Exactly What Kind Of Girl Does Pepzi Think We Are?
10 July 2007, 12:45 PM. By Cindy Casares
A recent request that we dance at the upcoming quinceañera of a young, Floridian girl who goes by the name of Pepzi got us wondering about the current dance trends at quinceañeras. After all, for some of us, it’s been a while. We did a little research and came across the above video on YouTube. It’s of a quinceñera’s “baile sorpresa” or surprise dance. In our day, this dance came after the traditional waltz and was usually representative of the current generation through the use of popular music and choreography. According to this video, today’s generation are a bunch of strippers. Which, admittedly, is one interpretation of coming out. We invite you to watch the video with the knowledge that, most likely, every one of those kids’ parents and, in some cases, grandparents, aunts and uncles were watching. A YouTube commenter who apparently was in the court had this to say in its defense:
to tell you the truth we came up with it in less than a week so we didnt really practice the second park (sic) we didn’t get a chance to make it better n (sic) shit but fuck it it passed already
We see how you could think ‘fuck it it passed already,’ but with the internet, has anything really ‘passed already’ ever again? Food for thought, kids. They seem okay with it, though. From another YouTube commenter:
i think it was cool, it was pequito (sic) nasty but it was cool.
We have no more words.
