Live_Earth_7_6_07.png We’re baffled by the fact that the same nation responsible for the musical success of David Hasselhoff has created a demand for both Shakira and Enrique Iglesias. The two darlings of Latin pop will be performing in Hamburg at the German venue of Al Gore-endorsed concert Live Earth, an event enlisting over 150 musical acts to save “a climate in crisis” by performing tomorrow at various locales all over the globe. (They actually list the Rothera Research Station in Antarctica as one of the venues–if you ask us, that place could use a little global warming.) The only other Latin acts we could find in the line-up were the kind of Brazilian ones we’re not quite hip enough to recognize; hell, even the concert’s website couldn’t provide info on a guy named Jorge Ben Jor.

So if you’re jonesin’ for some Latin beats but your international papers ain’t right, you’re out of luck and have to settle for the main U.S. performance at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. We hear Kelly Clarkson is scheduled to make an appearance, then back out.
