Mario Lopez Imposter Considers A Dwarf To Be Mickey Mouse For the Spanish Market
24 July 2007, 11:45 AM. By Carlos Posas
Mario Lopez has caught a lot of flack from us for what he’s done off the set and in front of the camera, but never for anything an imposter of his has done. Until now. 16 years after a trip to the Yucatán inspired him, a filmmaker whose name is identical to the man responsible for A.C. Slater has started production on an animated film detailing the mythical origins behind Mayan city Uxmal. (We got fooled into caring by the name in the headline, and didn’t dig up the picture at left until it was too late.) The plot’s actually kinda interesting, in the way creepy carnie folk are:
The story goes that when a dwarf angered the king, he was told his life would be spared if he completed three impossible tasks, which included building a pyramid overnight. The dwarf, Calabazo, completed the pyramid and was spared his life.
No joke–this is the character that Lopez (the mustachioed one, not the closeted one) hopes will be “the Mickey Mouse for the Spanish market”; he’ll eventually make an English version. All we have to say is, sign us up for the straight-to-DVD release.

First of all, the dwarf is not called Calabazo, but Nazaret. Second, Dora and Diego will open a can of whoopass on anybody who threatens their kingdom, Mayan or not (ask Mel Gibson). Lastly, I can’t for the life of me stop looking at Mario Lopez rocking the Magnum PI look. That image might very well be my next iPhone wallpaper.
Magnum P.I.? I’m thinking more that Vicente Fox doesn’t have anything to do in retiring from Los Pinos.
