Telemundo And Antonio Villaraigosa Sitting In A Tree

It’s been a while since we heard anything on the Mirthala Salinas-Antonio Villaraigosa front. When we last checked in, she was in serious danger of losing her job. Now she’s on a forced work leave while her employers investigate her ability to comply with something called “journalistic integrity.” Which is why it’s fun to view this video from last year featuring Salinas & co. covering the infamous (amongst Angelenos anyway) toilet brush incident. To summarize for those who don’t speak Spanish: in a 2006 speech on immigrants’ rights, Mayor Villaraigosa argued that immigrant workers make the country run. They “clean your toilets,” he told the crowd. So listeners to conservative radio show KFI AM mailed more than 1,000 toilet brushes to City Hall. We have no idea why, but notice the Telemundo anchor who interviews Villaraigosa in studio and fawns over him calling him a “joven” and “guapo” “abuelo” and assures him that Telemundo is his home. Then flash forward to today. Mirthala is on probation while her biased is being examined. Clearly, she was only towing the party line. This, of course, does not excuse her for schtupping someone’s abuelo. Ew.
