Watchando: La Migra Edition

We can take as much immigration news as the media can dish.
• Undocumented Mexicans who spend time in the U.S. just to make money before returning home for good do exist. Just not in the same number as Santa’s elves. [USA Today]
• New Haven, Connecticut is the first U.S. city to offer ID cards to its people without papers. Now underage Yale kids have a whole new rainbow of fakes to choose from. [BBC News]
• A spam scam telling e-mailees they’ve won the special lottery for U.S. visas is circulating. Not surprisingly, Alberto Gonzales can’t recall sending it. [The Latin Americanist]
• Americans flood Baja California, creating an undocumented immigrant problem in Mexico. Mexicans regret legalizing abortion. [My San Antonio]
• The terms “illegal immigrant” and “migrant” are politically spun forms of the only phrase that appears in the law: “intending immigrant.” We intend to ignore this and keep on spinning. [Naples Daily News]
