EasyBake_07_19_07.jpg For the second time this year, classic culinary toy the Easy Bake Oven has been recalled by toymaker Hasbro after more reports came in that little fingers get snagged and burned in its front-loaded opening. The news made us feel left out: maybe since our household never heeded recalls growing up, but more likely ’cause our mom–the good Latina provider that she is–would only shell out enough cash to buy the cheap knock-offs of American toys. Enter the Hornito de Juguete, or “Little Toy Oven,” pictured to the right of the Easy Bake. Without a front-loaded opening, it doesn’t pose the same risk as its shiny U.S. counterpart. Ghetto Plaything 1, Legit Plaything 0. (Then again, el Hornito couldn’t bake for shit–something we would have gladly lost a fingertip for.)
