We just want to give the gentlemen who made this movie a hella shout out for creating the most informative and entertaining piece of cinema about how to eat for nothing at a bodega that we’ve ever seen. For those not in the know, a bodega is the urban ghetto’s version of a 7-Eleven, usually run by Hispanic proprietors, hence the name. After the jump check out the Bodega food pyramid that includes 40 Ounces, Chips, Snack Cakes and Quarter Water, a poor man’s Kool-Aid. Now THAT’S poor.

RoofTop Film Festival [IFC via Nueva York]

Growing up in a Bronx neighborhood makes you appreciate the sheer greatness of this video. My only gripe? There is no mention of Jelly Tops, delicious egg-based cookies with frosted cherry jam nestled in the center. 24 pieces of Heaven for a meer 50 cents. Find the few bodegas around my ‘hood that carry these, find me.

^^ Dude,
We love Jelly Tops, but you have to tell the truth. That cherry goodness in the summer was only liquified and then hardened sugar, prah’lee high fructose corn syrup. Good shit.
