Dora the Explorer Poisons Something Other Than Your Kids’ Minds

With a knack for keeping her fans on their toes, kiddie Latina superstar Dora the Explorer is having a platoon of her toys recalled by Mattel so kids aren’t poisoned playing with them. Apparently the affected products took a time machine back to the ’50s and coated themselves in lead paint to spice things up with the kids. (In reality, Chinese factories are to blame for the old school design flaw.) We checked out the list of deviant toys in question, and counted at least 30 Dora-branded items; nevertheless, we don’t see her taking a hit in credibility for this among the babbling to bed-wetting demographic. (If a talking backpack didn’t do it, Lord knows this won’t.) So if your toddler shows his or her love of Latino representation on Nickelodeon by biting the heads off its plastic counterpart, consider yourself warned.
