Even A Billionaire Publisher Outsources His Grunt Work To Mexico

Mort_Zuckerman_Mexican_8_8_07.jpg It’s been reported that New York Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman—does it speak volumes about our media awareness if we had to Wiki him?— has a Mexican office peon up his sleeve when it comes to writing his weekly column for U.S. News & World Report, of which he’s also the editor-in-chief:

He writes early in the week, dictating a first draft of the column over the phone to a secretary in Mexico City. She transcribes his musings, and sends them to him; he fiddles and dictates anew.

Then again, she could just be an old American employee of his living in the Mexican capital. (Right, and all those American Apparel sweatshop factory workers are native Angelenos.)
