Jehovah_Latinos_8_14_07.jpg Reflecting the obscene growth of such congregations in Fresno from 7 to 16 over the past however many years, a record-breaking crowd in excess of 10,000 Latinos attended this year’s “Follow the Christ!” Jehovah’s Witness Convention held in Spanish in Bakersfield, CA. A more overbearing than usual example of one of these convention-goers is Alfonso Muchacho, a Venezuelan whose story couldn’t be more saccharin than if he made it up (something we’re not ruling out):

Alfonso Muchacho led the great life, or so he thought, as he was making good money in business, had parties to go to just about every day, and rubbed elbows with other people just like him. While some may see it as an ideal life, Muchacho labels it “una vida loca” (a crazy life). Thanks to his baptism as a Jehovah’s Witness when he was 22 years old, Muchacho figures he has regained control of his life.

We never knew people outside of Ricky Martin, circa 1999, actually used that phrase.

Turns out Muchacho is one of 7 million Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide, which begs an important question. If of that number, only 144,000 people “will receive immortal life in heaven as co-rulers with Christ” and eventually guide those of us stuck on earth to paradise, which group of brown adherents do you think they’ll ‘conveniently’ leave behind? All we’re saying is it’s easy to deny access to a bunch of people based on their skin color. It’s worked wonders for the U.S. government.

Cultural Makeup. The Jehovah’s Witnesses started out as “an American religion”, with nearly the entire membership being of European extraction. Having received only limited acceptance in the United States and in Europe, most membership growth in the past 40 years has been in third world countries in Africa and South/Central America. Even in the United States, people of European extraction no longer constitute the majority of the membership. In the United States, roughly 30-35% of Jehovah’s Witnesses are Hispanic, and approximately 20-25% of Jehovah’s Witnesses are African-American.

All the practices Jehovah witnesses have can be found in the bible. They don’t celebrate birthdays, halloween etc. because it is in the bible. In addition, Jesus never celebrated his birthday. I am a disfellowshipped member and I accept my consequences because there are examples in the bible that support this type of discipline. Why wouldn’t it be ok to be held accountable for sins? you pay the price for crime and Jehovahs witnesses live under the rule/government of God. Please reasearch your own bible and you will find your answers not in a web page with nothing but opinions and no facts.
