Geriatric Latinas Stave Off Death Better Than Their White And Black Equivalents

A new study released by the Public Policy Institute of California shows that Latina women there outlive their White and Black counterparts, enjoying an average life expectancy of 83. (That’s three years longer than gringas.) One Mexican egghead reacting to the news chalks it up to “cultural values and protective health behaviors that exist in immigrant Latinos”:
The first generation tends to have better marriages, the families stay more intact. They tend to respect their elders; they don’t place their parents in a home; they take care of their own.
You know what that means! If us younger folks adopt the lifestyles that helped our abuelas stall the Grim Reaper, we can both out populate AND outlive Whitey. Next stop: Latino New World Order.

This is clearly a sign that refried beans ARE a miracle food. My abuela’s in her 80s, and nothing stops her from frying up those beans every single day.
