Hugo Chavez To Make Himself President Forever
15 August 2007, 9:45 AM. By Cindy Casares

Always having the people’s interests at heart, Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez hopes to change his country’s constitution to reflect something he knows everybody wants—for him to be president indefinitely. The vote will go before the Venezuelan National Assembly soon, where all 167 lawmakers support the president. (How lucky is that???) While we’d love to scoff at a president who goes around trying to change the constitution for his personal interests, er…we kind of have one of those, too. So should we expect a mass exodus from Venezuela soon? Or, at the very least, we know there must be a Chavez-themed, Sean Penn/Danny Glover buddy movie in the works.

oh crap, here comes all of the venzueleans to ake all of our jobs
Last time we checked his scalp for Peojos, we found the 6+6+6=Satanas!
To compare the American President to this clown is beyong ignorant. First off, Chavez is a communist and last time I checked our latin people haven’t fared to well under these type of dicators: look at Nicaragua and Cuba for examples. Secondly, the US gives all of us latin people a chance–we can do so much here yet all we hear from sites like this is snarky commentary about Bush or some other person who is part of the right wing. Last time I checked, the left in this country is a lot closer to communist and facist thinking, the same thinking most of us has escaped from our own countires. We really need to think about these things before we jump to the emotional “latin pride” crap which means absolutely nothing if we don’t stand up for what’s right. Like kickin chavez, castro and Ortega out of office pronto. Cmon people…THINK!
If the people keep electing chavez let him run idefinitely! AFTER ALLMORE THAN 75% OF VENEZUELAN SUPPORT HIM WHERE AS BUSH HAS LESS THAN 35% SUPPORT!
Hey Latinlover, we can definately do so much here in the US, like die right outside a hospital that won’t treat you because you don’t have medical insurance, or go to a war that is causing the largest foreign debt in world history. you’re right Bush is not comparable to Chavez, because Chavez is actually helping his own country by nationalizing its crude oil, and making his country profit instead of multinational companies (lobbyists don’t like that).
Its great to live in a free democratic country like the USA. So democratic in fact that if you say anything against the current government you’re “Anti-American” that’s pretty fascist thinking if you ask me!
Agustin last time I checked the only person Chavez was helping was himself. Wait actually no, he’s helping.. Cuba, Bolivia and of course his bffs. It seems the only people he ISNT helping are the Venezuelan people. Our oil has been nationalized for years, no foreign company will invest becaust there is no longer security as far as private property. Industries have stoped producing goods because they simply can’t manufacture them at the prices the government is asking them to. Venezuela is importing just about everything these days. I’m not sure where your from but I guess you have to be a Venezuelan to trully grasp this. Regardless I hate to say it but we had this comming. Its just heartbreaking for the few of us lucky enough to have escaped this situation to see our own people in such a state of desperation
Agustin, I really agree with dude. First of all, what’s this about chavez nationalizing crude oil? Last time I checked, Venezuelan oil industry has been nationalize since the 1960. And yes, you really have to be Venezuelan to trully understand what’s going on. I’m curious Agustin, you say Chavez is helping his country by making it profit! Could you please elaborate on this?
