Meta Duet Pairing La Mala Rodríguez And Julieta Venegas Means Confusion For Listeners

Mala_Duet_Venegas_8_29_07.jpg The woman we and many others consider Spain’s first lady of hip-hop, María “La Mala” Rodríguez, weathered a recent recording sesh with Mexican singer Julieta Venegas and described the duet they had produced to a daily—not without a hint of whining:

“[It’s] a critique of society invaded by so much publicity—a society which, surrounded by so many commercials, once in a while needs for the ads to give it a moment to reflect.”

(We wonder if she’d consider this commentary an example of the very thing she’s critiquing.) At least we understood that explanation; it seems Venegas’ eccenctricity has rubbed off on Rodríguez, leaving her unable to make sense with the following one:

The message is found blurred between a couple, a couple to which something happens that breaks their trust and [leaves] a distance that only time can heal.

You had us, María, then you lost us. Let’s just say something happened during your explanation that broke our rosy lenses. Only time will put them back together.
