Mirthala Salinas Keeps Her Job, Loses Her Virginal Sheen

At long last, a decision has been reached regarding the professional fate of Mirthala Salinas, the Los Angeles Telemundo anchor who bedded that city’s mayor (eww!), Antonio Villaraigosa, while acting as a political correspondent for the station. From the Los Angeles Times:

Mirthala Salinas has been suspended without pay for two months but not dismissed from KVEA Channel 52 for covering the mayor while she was romantically involved with him.

The official report also stated that the Salinas-Villaraigosa affair was an “open secret” amongst the local station’s employees:

“Everyone knew — cameramen knew, the producers knew and the reporters all knew,” said one Telemundo executive, who spoke on the condition he not be identified because he was not authorized to comment. “This is a very small business.”

A very small business, a very small mayor, but somehow very, very big pants. Congratulations, you crazy love birds.
