Despite repeatedly making the news for offending various peoples with bigoted shtick, New Jersey shock jock Craig Carton is rumored to be part of the duo replacing Don “nappy-headed hos” Imus. (The rumor is gaining speed on his MySpace comment wall, so you know it’s legit.) Carton’s latest offense of the squeamish came in March of this year, when he and the other ratings-whore who host “Jersey Guys” asked their listeners to report suspected illegal immigrants by calling the station in a campaign named “La Cuca Gotcha.” (You didn’t expect a poor man’s Howard Stern to be clever, did you?) As a frame of reference in case you decide to brave his premiere on WFAN, Carton served up the following flak four days after Imus spat the words that’d eventually get him fired:

“We are not racists,” he said. “We’re not hate-mongers. We tell the same jokes you tell your buddies in the bar or your cubicle at work.”

Can’t really argue with that! As a rule, we never go to bars or take jobs in Jersey.
