torremayor.8.31.07.jpg A strangely underreported story just made its way into our consciousness: over 10,000 people in Mexico City had to be evacuated from the country’s largest office building, (the Torre Mayor located in the financial district), yesterday afternoon due to a carbomb in that building’s parking garage. Sound familiar? Eeerily so. But the Houston Chronicle reports these terrorists are suspected to be home grown, (not any of those other brown guys.)

The bomb threat came less than two months after a small, leftist guerrilla group claimed credit for blowing up natural gas pipelines in the central highlands north of Mexico City.

No one was injured in those explosions. But the resulting shortage of natural gas forced car manufacturing plants as well as other factories and businesses to shut down for days.

The group called Popular Revolutionary Army, or EPR hasn’t been heard from since the mid-1990’s, but hey, with all the other end of days shit going on in the world, seems like a good time for a comeback.
