Thank God the most intelligent Latinas in the free world will gather in San Antonio this fall to devise “out of the box” solutions to Latino issues like diabetes and high school drop out rates. The women--17 Latinas who have been named MacArthur Fellows, (a grant often referred to as the "genius grant”), spearheaded by Chicana messiah Sandra Cisneros—call themselves the “MacArturos,” and are billing the sessions as a gathering of “Latin@ Geniuses,” (Not “L@ina Geniuses”? Thank God the most intelligent Latinas in the free world will gather in San Antonio this fall to devise “out of the box” solutions to Latino issues like diabetes and high school drop out rates. The women--17 Latinas who have been named MacArthur Fellows, (a grant often referred to as the "genius grant”), spearheaded by Chicana messiah Sandra Cisneros—call themselves the “MacArturos,” and are billing the sessions as a gathering of “Latin@ Geniuses,” (Not “L@ina Geniuses”? They’re so out of the box!)

Perhaps an anthology of angry feminist poetry to torment college students of the future or a rash of purple houses breaking out all across the country. One for each soldier who’s died in Iraq.
