Pretentious Latinas To Get Together And Talk About Saving The World
3 August 2007, 11:30 AM. By Cindy Casares

Thank God the most intelligent Latinas in the free world will gather in San Antonio this fall to devise “out of the box” solutions to Latino issues like diabetes and high school drop out rates. The women–17 Latinas who have been named MacArthur Fellows, (a grant often referred to as the “genius grant”), spearheaded by Chicana messiah Sandra Cisneros—call themselves the “MacArturos,” and are billing the sessions as a gathering of “Latin@ Geniuses,” (Not “L@ina Geniuses”? They’re so out of the box!)
The MacArturos think tank events will be presented as a series of “dream circles” bringing experts and community members together at various sites across the city, including colleges and universities and cultural organizations.
We’re sure we’ll be feeling the cultural ramifications of these “dream circles” for years to come. Perhaps an anthology of angry feminist poetry to torment college students of the future or a rash of purple houses breaking out all across the country. One for each soldier who’s died in Iraq. We can’t wait.

I think men will be speaking at this event too, given the list of participants on the SA Express-News site.
What good could you possibly be doing for the community? And the fact that you didn’t mention that men are also apart of this event proves that maybe you didn’t even read the article at all, let alone understand it which gives you little right to criticize it. Also, Cisneros’ house is now currently pink. Just thought I’d throw it in there along with your other mistakes.
