Quinceañera Dolls To Be Classier Than Their Human Equivalents (But Not By Much)

Quinces_Dolls_8_22_07.jpeg In the wake of K-Mart trying their damndest to appease minority mothers and brats by selling ethnic dolls with “diverse” facial features, another company has come up with an even more novel way to cash in on brown pride—Quinceañera dolls. Their makers hope to feed off the absurd popularity of quinces we’ve reported here time and again without puking:

The Princesa Quinceañera line includes three dolls, each dressed to the nines in full-length ball gowns, tiaras, necklaces and earrings, and satin gloves, and featuring distinctly Hispanic facial features and hair styles.

So they’re basically slapping wedding garb on the light-skinneded Black girl that used to roll with Barbie. (Validation at last!) Even if they do a more thorough job than that, we foresee only one outcome—Latino girls growing up with the same fabulous insecurities that fashion dolls taught their White counterparts. Oh, and bulimia.
