Republicans Would Rather Not Talk About Deporting Us On Univisión

Univisión is scheduling the first, Spanish -language, U.S. Presidential debates to air on their network on September 9 and 16 covering the Democratic and Republican parties respectively. But only one Republican candidate, Senator John McCain of Arizona, agreed to participate in the event at the University of Miami. Guess it’s not so easy to talk about those thieving, dirty Mexicans when they’re the only ones watching! All eight Democratic candidates, on the other hand, are scheduled to appear on the network on September 9. We are saying nada.

Kudos to Guanabee for your reporting on this topic!
This tells you exactly which party wants our votes and which one does not have the courage to back up its positions with reasoned argument and has to go crawl back under a rock!
    Arriba los Latinos!

Hey I’d be scared to if I were a white guy in a room filled with latino youth, especially after coming from a “Send them all back to Mexico!” rally.

The vast majority of American’s favor LEGAL immigration of all people. Latinos, Chinese, Filipino’s, Africian’s, etc., are all welcomed. It is the illegal immigrant’s demand for jobs, education, health care, without a desire to become a citizen that American’s object to. America like other countries has a border and a right to know who enters their country. Mexico and other South American countries have laws that are strongly enforced on denying illegal alien’s into their country; however, unlike America, deny these people health care, education and other social services. What other country in the world takes in as many legal or illegal immigrants as the United States? It is amazing that Latino’s bring up the “race” card when they have to “wait” in line like the millions upon millions of other people throughout the world who want to be U.S. citizens or work in the United States. Envy: the resentful or unhappy feeling of wanting somebody else’s success, good fortune, qualities, or possessions. Think about it.

Wayne, you are an encyclopedia of chuckle-headed anti-immigrant propaganda. Americans don’t favor immmigration, by something like 70% they oppose it. Immigrants would go to the back of the line, if there WAS a line. There just isn’t. Immigrants come here to work and consume, not to get on the public dole. Finally, as far as I can tell, you’re the one bringing up the “race” card. It’s something that’s not brought up on this site, possibly because most Latinos don’t see ourselves as a different race, just a different culture. Your comment in that regard makes you look closeted.
    Arriba los Latinos!

    elcid66,
I fully support all people to come to the U.S. to live and work and reach for the American Dream. 70% of Americans favor legal immigration and I am one of them. The difference between us is I favor legal immigration. I will not lower myself to your level of name calling. If you are an illegal alien from Mexico or another South American country I understand why you are here, employment, wealth, education to name but a few examples. My wife is Filipino and it took 11.5 years of paperwork and interviews for my wife to become a U.S. citizen mainly due to me serving overseas as active duty military. No one said it was going to be easy. Good luck to you and yours I wish you the best.

The issue of illegal immigration has been ignored for decades by both parties. However, it was Hillary Clinton, not the Republicans that forced the issue to the forefront in the last few years. Go to the Senate website and check the voting records of your favorite senator. It is a complicated issue. However, I am amazed that I have never heard or read of anyone holding the Mexican government accountable for the plight of the migrant workers. It is the Mexican government that exploits the farmworkers. The government encourages them to live the difficult and sad life of a migrant, sending their money home to prop up the Mexican economy. Isn’t it time that the Mexican government contributed to the welfare of it’s citizens? It is time for the Mexican people to make a stand against the corruption of the government and drug cartels that rule the country.

Yes. I cringe everytime I hear a Mexican politician accuse the U.S. government of mistreating Mexican illegal immigrants. I watch Mexican news every day, and the Mexican government is not a sister of mercy with its own citizens. I am not against immigration, my parents came here legally to give my sisters and me a better life. I only wish the Mexican government would stop turning a blind eye on its own problems, exploiting its own people, stealing money from them and not improving its own economy.

Wayne, the real difference between you and me is that I have not forgotten where I came from. Like you, I was born in this country and I am a veteran (Army). I am in favor of immigration not because it benefits me directly, but because I have not forgotten I am the son of immigrants who struggled mightily to subsist in this country. I am therefore in favor of policies that do not demonize “illegals” and which instead give them a path to full participation in this society and economy. To favor laws that de facto ban immigration from Latin America is not to be pro-immigration. That’s Orwellian. And Jon, criticizing the Mexican government is the easiest way for opponents of immigration to get nothing done. If you care about immigrants, support legislators who are going to help them get legal status. Otherwise, you’re just dissembling.

Orwellian? Why is it wrong to think that the government of Mexico be accountable for it’s citizens? Isn’t that the purpose of government. I definitely believe that immigrants shouldn’t be demonized. I am not the son of immigrants. However, I am the spouse of one.
Any time there is a poor country bordering a wealthy nation, there will be the “problem” of illegal immigration. The only way to solve the problems is to improve the conditions of those on the other side of prosperity.

Wayne was right elcid, the chucklehead is you. Enough immigration already we need a 50 year moratorium. The western hemisphere has enough dysfunctional Latin American countries and turning the US into one is a recipe for the fall of civilization since we’re the only ones holding back tyranny anymore. There are like 20 hispanic countries in theis hemisphere, plenty of room, rescources, space, and opportunity for their citizens in their own country.
300 million Americans is plenty. We need immigrants like we need traffic jams, expanding violent gangs and social conflict. When the original elcid was fighting invaders in Spain…he was a symbol for preserving his cpeople right? Well, Americans need to preserve our culture and rescources. Google “American Art”, or “American Architecture” before you start your multi-cultural rant to please.

Since your ad hominem attacks will naturally ensue:I have 7 years of college have held 3 professional licenses and spent 25 years working with Hispanic professionals. Spain didn’t become a world empire by being shy, the were conquistidores and this little masterful game of political manipulation the Hispanics are currently using to manipulate our society into ignoring it’s own interests and promoting theirs is just another chess move from a culture that has already steamrollered itself across the globe mowing down opposition for centuries. Don’t let the “refugee” and “just want to make a living” gambit fool you-they’re taking ground and establishing a voting bloc.

According to the U.S. Constitution, one of the highest callings or responsibilities of the federal government is to protect our nation from “invasions.” It does not matter whether the invasion is armed or not, even though on our Southern border the invasion it is becoming ever more armed and violent. There are Mexican Federalies, drug runners and coyotes who make incursions back and forth on a regular basis.

The numbers of aliens in our nation today number in the millions, perhaps tens of millions. They are in every state in the lower 48 and their sheer numbers are jolting many American citizens awake to the problems associated with their presence.

Our federal government continues to stall at dealing with these problems or at best the progress is slower than a snails pace. Therefore, many states, burdened by the excessive social costs presented by these aliens, are beginning to deal with these problems within the confines of a state’s ability to do so.

Oklahoma is leading the way, with the passage earlier this year of HB 1804. Of course passage of 1804 has caused no small stir.

YOU CAN HAVE A MODERN SOCIETY BASED ON DEMOCRACY AND PUBLIC DISCOURSE ON ISSUES, OR A PRIMITIVE ONE BASED ON ETHNICITY-BUT THE TWO CANNOT EXIST TOGETHER FOR LONG.

TAKE YOUR PICK. BUT BEFORE YOU KEEP PRESSING AMERICA TO CHANGE FOR YOU, TAKE A LONG OBJECTIVE LOOK AT THE BANNANA REPUBLICS YOU LEFT BEHIND.
