In lieu of rumors that the Bush administration has set plans in motion to bisect the U.S. with a super highway linking Mexico to Canada, Stephen Colbert interviews Harper’s publisher and anti-NAFTA book author, John R. MacArthur, for the above clip. What ensues is typically absurd speculation about the impact this Interstate 69 would have on society as we know it. (Other than making us snicker every time a road map is cracked open.) What MacArthur calls cheap labor and the economic colonization of Mexico, Colbert calls free trade.
