Texas Border Patrol Chief: Our Job Is To Hunt Terrorists, Not Mexicans
Loudmouthed, Colorado Congressman and Republican candidate for president Tom Tancredo has called for the resignation of a Texas Border Patrol chief after he made some remarks that may not mesh with the patrol’s mission to hunt down those rascally illegals. Laredo, TX border jefe Carlos X. Carrillo said the following at a recent town hall meeting:
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop illegal immigrants. The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop narcotics … The Border Patrol’s mission is not to stop criminals. The Border Patrol’s mission is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering this country.
(Cuz if we stop all those undocumented Mexicans, the terrorists will have won.) Carrillo’s higher-ups have rushed to his defense, saying the comment was taken out of context. It’s a concept Tancredo should be familiar with, given that we found the following gem on a page full of his quotes disembodied from their circumstances:
If we have another event like 911 perpetrated by someone coming across the border illegally, that would do something.
Oh, do tell. And then you and that guy you want fired can get together and figure out how to stop it.

Politicians in D.C. have said worse and to a broader audience. I am not defending Carrillo’s comment, but lets be realistic. Its not enough to get him fired. I live in Laredo and let me tell you, the Border Patrol does arrest illegal immigrants. Tancredo needs to watch Pro8 News or Noticiero Univision Laredo.
“This is our country, take it back?” That’s getting old. Unless Tancredo is American Indian.
