Unshocking Revelation: Up And Coming Latino Star Goes To Big Movie Premiere With His Mom And Abuela

Rick_Gonzalez_MamaBoy_8_24_07.png Bushwick, Brooklyn-born actor Rick González admits to fulfilling one of our favorite stereotypes—A Latino from the hood who’s a mama’s boy? You don’t say!—by sitting with his mother and his grandmother at the New York premiere of gangster schlockfest “Illegal Tender.” What’re the odds that these ladies have the kind of edgy taste for cinematic violence that’s perfect for a puff piece?

Asked if he felt comfortable taking his mom and grandma to such a violent movie, González laughed. […] “I wasn’t ashamed or worried that my grandmother or mom would feel uncomfortable seeing this film. The Charles Bronson movies we used to watch had more violence than this. They were cool.”

Awww, that’s almost as endearing as when he played a pledge named Spanish in “Old School.” (Must… resist… quoting that damn… movie!) Too bad he’s more likely to entertain with beer bongs and Red Lobster jokes than with guns and drugs.

I appreciate the honesty, considering there’s a banner ad for that ‘schlockfest’ directly under that post. Who needs ad dollars anyway?
