U.S. Government Has Yet to Explain How It Misplaced That Chicano
13 August 2007, 12:37 PM. By Carlos Posas
It’s been a week since Pedro Guzman, the mentally disabled Los Angeles native whom customs people mistakenly deported to Tijuana three months ago, was reunited with his family. During that time, we haven’t seen anything pop up on the ol’ reader about the government’s explanation for this fiasco. Not even a cold, nondescript rebuttal to the “damning” accusations hurled at it by SoCal ACLU legal director Mark Rosenbaum during a press conference the day of Guzman’s release from a Lancaster, CA jail. (Turns out they had to ‘process’ the poor bastard even more.)
Hurl away, Marky Mark:
“This government deported Pedro Guzman because of his skin color, did not examine or review his documents stating that he was born in California because of his skin color, did not bother to comfort this family when he was found because of his skin color,” Rosenbaum said.
And all along we thought the government did all that stuff because it hates Mexicans.

Not a race issue at all. Guy is mentally disabled, it is a disability issue. People with disabilities are mistreated, misplaced and ignored everyday.
Where is the story about those people?
Yeah, cuz a white mentally disabled dude would have been shipped right off to Tijuana. I know I’m a year late on this, but still.
It was sad to read how the mother reacted to her son coming back. She said something about only getting 1/2 her son back, and you know how our Latina moms have this thing about us being well-nourished. That really made the story real …
sounds like the plot to Born in East LA. damn, people.
