The latest issue of Vanity Fair, that bastion of WASP culture, is on newsstands and Braziliaphiles will be happy to know it’s entirely devoted to that sexy, sexy land of supermodels and genital waxes:
We all love Brazil. All the associations with Brazil are good, warm and sexy.
Indeed. We took a peep at the photo spread concocted by VF photographer Mario Testino and Fashion Director Michael Roberts to see just what those warm associations could be:
Turns out it’s three naked Black people and a bunch of White folks in formal wear from 1960!

I persist in loving your blog. HA! Christmas ritual of shaming models… *snort*!
Thanks for the great start to my day!
Are those Black men on their hands and knees in front of a white audience? Smells like colonialism … smells like Vanity Fair …
Brazil is also the land of kidnappings, drug wars and police brutality.
There ae black women who are ten thousand times more bautiful than Gisele Bundchen but most people will not know that because Vanity Fair, like most of Brazil, is obsessed with its own European identity.
If you’re fetishized and you know it, clap your hands. Amazing.
Yeah, pretty good representation of Brazil there. Just minus the whole other 80% of the population that is black and poor…
