Blabbeando tipped us off about this family-owned salon in the Dominican Republic called Belky’s. The low-budget commercial above captures the owner explaining that he opened the business because his hot daughter kept catching the flu when she got her hair done at salons that use cold water. At Belky’s, apparently, they always use hot water. Even if the electricity goes out, they boil it!
In addition to proving that hot water is still a luxury in most of the world, the spot also highlights an array of services like something called a “manicur-ee” and, judging by the sign, make up and up-dos for quinceaƱeras and weddings. (“Please make advance reservations.”) We’re especially fond of the logo that was shamelessly ripped off from Wendy’s.
For locations in the states follow the jump!
Wanting to visit ourselves, we did some research and found two other Belky Salons listed in the States:
-Belky’s Beauty Salon, 94 Highwood Ter, Weehawken, NJ 07086 (201) 863-9316
-Belky’s Beauty Salon, 482 Centre St, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 (617) 524-9724
But we don’t think they’re related. We called and there were no roosters crowing in the background.
