Beyonce's Confession: I Wanted to Be Born A Latina

beyonce-shakira_200.jpg

In an interview with Latina.com, Beyonce speaks a little too candidly about her desire to be Latina.

“I’m just jealous that I wasn’t born Latina. I wish I had been because the culture is so beautiful.”

Basing her desire to be Latina on superficial moments like her experiences at Latino radio stations, where there was “so much love and everyone is so genuine,” is worse than having to hear Obama and Hillary say how much love they have for us. Beyonce, are you sure you want to be part of a culture that keeps pots and pans in the oven, shares a bed with family members at any age and eats so much rice and beans that our thighs rub together by the time we’re nine? Say you wish you were born a righty instead of a lefty, or that you weren’t born lactose intolerant, but don’t disregard your own culture, sweetie.

i didn’t know that the gringos didn’t put their pots and pans in the oven. just like when i was 22 and learned that they didn’t break cascarones on their heads on easter at grandma’s. hmmm. i guess i have a lot to learn. do they also put unfinished canned tomato sauce in the fridge? you know, an opened can with or without saran wrap to protect it? just wondering…

Hell, it’s the first intelligent thing I’ve ever seen attributed to her.
