CNN Throws Their Sombrero In The Ring For Hispanic Heritage Month

Doing their part to suck the Hispanic Heritage Month teat ever so dry, CNN wrote a craptastic report on the intricacies of the Latino/Hispanic identity morass. They break the news that, since Latinos come from different countries, labeling them is a bitch! To try to make sense of it all, they spoke with Carl J. Kravetz, a “veteran of Hispanic Marketing.” In spite of all that confusing heterogeneity, Kravetz asserts that there is indeed a Latino Identity and has this to say about it:
It is drawn along parallels in values and ways of thinking and regardless of country of origin, the group tends to “cluster” in a few areas [...] Those areas include interpersonal relationships (Latinos tend to emphasize family; individuality is not as important), perception of the future (the group is less driven toward goals), and spirituality (the group tends to be more fatalistic, more likely to say they have no control over their lives).
No wonder the Puerto Rican Day parade is such a clusterfuck. Wanna know what else they “found”? Too bad. We’re telling you anyway:
David Chitel, the founder of New Generation Latino Consortium, a group of advertising and media companies, also said there are definite cultural ties among Latinos, particularly between those born in the United States. So much so, he said, that he and others coined the term “new generation Latinos” to refer to them.
As for us, we like to call ourselves Spics 3.0.
