Er, Fashion Week?: Sea Turtle Smugglers Get Smacked

SeaTurtle.9.7.07.jpg

A ring of sea turtle smugglers out of Mexico and South Texas was busted yesterday in Denver by U.S. Wildlife Agents working in tandem with the Mexican government for the past 3 years. Five guys, three from Mexico and two from South Texas, were arrested for smuggling skins and meat and 3 more are still at large. Endangered turtles are killed in Mexico and sold on the black market for their skins which are made into boots, belts and wallets, as well as their meat and eggs which are seen as a delicacy and a sexual aid respectively. If found guilty, the men could face more than 25 years in prison and more than 100 million dollars in fines. That’ll kill your boner, for sure.
