To some of the above commenters:
Dress size has little to do with your height, it depends on your porportions. And given that the shorter you are, the less the weight stretches out, chances are a size 8 is going to be a pretty natural, normal size for someone who’s just over five feet tall.

So many people have such a truly skewed idea of what a normal body looks like because the media saturates us in extremes all the time. Thin to the max, boobs to the max, etc.

Yet here is America Ferrera representing a natural, healthy and beautiful woman and people go and call her fat? Are people so indoctrinated with fear of looking like an average person instead of an unnatural, airbrushed, stretched zombie that they feel like they have to label another person “fat” when she looks totally fine?

Get over your own insecurity and accept the fact that she’s got a hot body that is her own, and the confidence to show it off in the face of hollow, judgmental morons.

American has lost a lot of weight in recent years. I remember her “Real Women Have Curves” movie and she was a lot heavier then. I don’t necessarily think that it is bad that she is losing weight, but I hope she knows that as she loses it she will have to stop promoting herself as the fat girl of hollywood.

I’m a 5ft2 female and a size 6/8. I weigh 125lb and have under 25% body fat fat. This is not fat or overweight people, so please stop making out like it is. Perhaps I’m more toned than she is, but at the end of the day she is probably larger framed than me and this size suits her.

Also bear in mind she used to be a size 12 and around 150lb, she has slimmed down and looks fantastic now. Being a shorter female does not mean a size 4 is the max size and anyone that thinks it is, well then they are just plain ignorant or if I’m not being so kind, effing stupid.

Actualy ‘poppyseed’ generally speaking, vintage clothing sizes run 4-6 sizes smaller than clothing sizes today. For example, I normally wear a size 4-6 in most everything ( dress, pants, skirts) but if I’m trying on a 50’s dress, I need a size 12.

hey Marilyn Monroe was a size 14 at her smallest and that was nearly 50 years ago so that would be like a size 22 now and she is the ideal sexy in todays world

whoever wrote this translation is the exact description of being WHITE TRASH!!! Not knowing that there must be differences in this world and that not being average doesn’t make you less, but the opposite, it makes you ORIGINAL. It’s about being jelaous because other people can’t make it to where she’s been just the way she is. And sure do you think they don’t photoshop the pictures of white, skinny models? Obiously they do.

Uhm I met her in real life. She is 5′0-5′1 at most. Size 8 is pretty large for her height and she seems larger than her pictures when she is not wearing heels. That being said, the size suits her quite well. She looks adorable! What a boring world we would live in if everyone were a skinny Minnie.

Insecurity makes people do very, very silly things.

Which is why I’m glad that I’m in an industry where women are worshipped for their beauty and confidence, and not how thin they are… Otherwise, I’d probably be a nervous wreck for being a size 14, rather than having my own fans worship the ground I walk on.

That’s a real shame that even though Glamour is supposedly upholding her “true” and “real” beauty, they still Photoshop the heck out of her. That neck belongs on a giraffe, her hips are gone, her arms are scrawny, and her waist looks like a size 2.

This is why I don’t read magazines like Glamour. All those magazines do is make you feel like crap about yourself. All while trying to tell you how to satisfy your man in bed. Pathetic.

Regardless. She is a an absolutely radiant example of incredibly authentic, sexy beauty - she’s always been genuine, and amazingly lowkey in the face of the offensive incredulity of the ‘mainstream’ press and hollywood machine. Maria Menounos’ appalling reception at the emmys pretty much sums up the sad truth…

Yes, the PhotoShopped pic looks awful, and the real pic looks great. However, she was NOT always a size 6-8, most certainly not in her debut, “Real Women Have Curves”. Before becoming really popular/successful, the girl did lose weight. It’s disingenuous to act as if she isn’t playing the game. She’s not starving herself, but she did whittle down the hips, et al.
