Nothing restores your faith in God (and the media) like the perky headline we found on the ol’ CNN newsfeed this morning: “Felix victims may be ‘floating on the sea.’ ” We kept our fingers crossed for said victims, mostly Miskito Indians, when the Category 5 Hurricane struck on Tuesday. As is usually the case with natural disasters, some fared alright (like the guy pictured here) and others…not so well:

Some 150 Miskito Indians who were adrift on the ocean clinging to buoys, canoes and slabs of wood were rescued by authorities, said Honduran federal Congresswoman Carolina Echeverría, who represents the northeastern province of Gracias a Dio on the Nicaraguan border. […] “We believe there are many others out there floating on the sea,” she said.

Judging by the ornery-ness of this hurricane season so far, they’ll probably be out there when the next storm rolls around.
